Recce Salesperson - Modern Trade & HORECA
Department: Sales Marketing & Distribution
Reports To: Regional Sales Manager
Job Purpose: To identify, establish, and grow sales opportunities in the Modern Trade and HORECA (Hotels, Restaurants, and Cafés) channels for Hill Group’s FMCG portfolio within Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on territory scouting, outlet onboarding, and driving sales conversion through structured market engagement and strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Intelligence & Outlet Mapping:
- Conduct daily field visits to scout and identify new sales opportunities across modern trade outlets and HORECA segments.
- Continuously profile and onboard new outlets aligned with Hill Group’s distribution strategy.
- Sales & Business Development:
- Drive product awareness and push sales conversion in identified outlets.
- Achieve assigned monthly sales targets and route coverage objectives.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain regular contact with outlet decision makers.
- Address product inquiries, resolve complaints, and collect customer feedback for internal use.
- Compliance & Merchandising:
- Ensure correct placement of SKUs, shelf branding, and compliance with promotional plans.
- Collaborate with merchandising teams to improve product visibility and stock movement.
- Reporting & Feedback Loop:
- Submit daily activity reports on visits, new leads, competitor activity, and route performance.
- Support data-driven decision-making through timely and accurate field intelligence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, or Business-related field.
- Minimum 2 years of FMCG field sales experience, preferably in modern trade or HORECA channels.
- Valid motorcycle and vehicle driving licenses with demonstrated riding/driving experience.
- Strong knowledge and familiarity with Dar es Salaam’s terrain, roads, and commercial zones.
- Must be aged below 35 years.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-driven with strong field discipline and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Weekly the number of new outlets identified and activated.
- Sales volumes and value are generated from HORECA and modern trade clients.
- Compliance with brand visibility and outlet merchandising standards.
- Accuracy and consistency of daily field reports.
- Customer satisfaction and retention rate.
