Job Description: Head Sales Manager (Electronics Retail & Wholesale)

Salary Range: Tsh 1,000,000/- gross Competitive, Based on Experience + Performance-Based Incentives


Role Overview:

The Head Sales Manager will be responsible for driving business growth and expansion across the region, overseeing sales operations in wholesale, retail, B2B, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) channels. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, business development, and people management skills to recruit, train, and manage an effective field sales team, including freelancers for phone financing and outreach programs.

This role requires a highly strategic, results-driven individual who can scale the business, build strong relationships with clients and partners, and execute aggressive market expansion strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Growth & Market Expansion

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to expand the company's presence across the country.

  • Identify new business opportunities in wholesale, retail, B2B, and D2C segments.

  • Drive geographic expansion by launching new sales operations in potential regions.

  • Conduct market research to assess customer demand, competition, and pricing strategies.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key wholesale buyers, corporate clients, and retail partners.

2. Sales Management & Revenue Growth

  • Own and achieve sales targets for different business channels.

  • Create and execute effective sales and promotional campaigns to drive revenue.

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance, adjusting strategies where needed.

  • Implement a structured sales pipeline to ensure high conversion rates across different sales channels.

  • Develop and execute B2B and D2C sales strategies to maximize customer acquisition and retention.

3. Staff Recruitment, Training & Management

  • Recruit, train, and lead a high-performance field sales team, including full-time employees and freelance sales agents.

  • Design and implement sales training programs to improve team performance.

  • Develop KPIs and incentive programs to motivate the sales force.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective actions where necessary.

  • Foster a strong sales-driven culture within the organization.

4. Field Sales & Freelance Team Management (Mkopo Financing & Outreach Programs)

  • Build and manage a freelance sales team for phone (mkopo) financing, targeting mass-market customers.

  • Implement door-to-door, community-based, and corporate sales strategies to increase product penetration.

  • Develop partnerships with microfinance institutions and fintech companies to enhance financing options.

  • Establish a commission-based model to incentivize field agents.

  • Monitor and track field sales team performance and optimize strategies accordingly.

5. Retail & Wholesale Strategy Execution & Expansion

  • Identify, onboard, and manage retail partners and wholesale distributors.

  • Oversee product placement, pricing, and promotions in retail stores.

  • Develop strategies to increase foot traffic and sales conversion rates in stores.

  • Negotiate favorable terms with wholesalers, retailers, and e-commerce partners.

  • Expand retail store presence by identifying high-potential locations for new company-owned or partnership outlets.

  • Strengthen wholesale distribution networks by expanding into new regional markets and securing strong distribution partners.

  • Continuously assess market demand and recommend expansion strategies for the entire product range.

  • Identify high-growth regions and untapped business opportunities for expansion across different sales channels.

6. Customer Relationship Management & Brand Positioning

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and corporate clients.

  • Implement strategies for customer retention, loyalty programs, and after-sales service.

  • Conduct surveys and collect feedback to improve the customer experience.

  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and business forums to enhance brand awareness.

7. Reporting & Compliance

  • Provide weekly and monthly sales reports to senior management.

  • Monitor sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to adjust strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies in all sales operations.


Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role in the electronics retail and wholesale industry.

  • Strong background in sales, business development, and market expansion.

  • Experience managing B2B, B2C, and D2C sales channels.

  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and lead sales teams, including freelancers and field agents.

  • Strong experience in wholesale distribution, pricing strategies, and partner negotiations.

  • Knowledge of phone financing programs, credit sales models, and microfinance partnerships.

  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.

Preferred:

  • Experience in e-commerce sales and digital marketing strategies.

  • Familiarity with CRM and sales automation tools.

  • Knowledge of local market dynamics and regulatory requirements in Kenya.
