Context/Scope:

Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits) It is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the largest business unit in Diageo Africa and the largest listed Company on the NSE in Kenya. SBL operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the second largest beer company with a market share of around 25%.
 
The job holder will be responsible for driving Financial Leadership through:-
  • The provision of high-quality financial advice and management information to facilitate decision making that enables the delivery and achievement of the Supply Operations strategy and business objectives.
  • Translates strategies into plans and budgets, providing commercial insights relating to future performance.
  • Manages and coordinates the provision of structured and insightful analysis of financial and non-financial data in order to influence and enable strategic financial decisions.
  • Assists in ensuring key controls are in place within the Supply environment.
  • The role seeks to optimise synergies, prevent duplication and overlap as well as position the role of Supply Finance as a business and strategic partner in the Manufacturing environment.

Top Accountabilities
  • Lead annual operating plan setting process within Supply Chain. Establish templates, set timetables, and reviews, challenge cost center submissions, consolidate plans and prepare annual budget presentation to the Senior Executive Team
  • Provide proactive, in-depth analysis and subsequent challenges of Supply Chain Management on key financial items such as working capital utilization and cost development
  • Provide oversight on the analyses of monthly performance based on various data sources (SAP, Operational KPIs.) to derive a consistent picture of current performance, key issues, and action items. Prepare and present Supply Chain Business Performance financial review pack  to the Supply Chain Director and other operational supply top management
  • Support Supply Chain Management on strategy setting and strategic projects (e.g. assessment of return on investment on capital expenditure projects.)
  • Participate and drive Supply Chain Management continuous improvement initiatives to streamline its controlling processes/reporting and improve efficiencies through a better utilization of operational and financial reporting systems
Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A postgraduate degree in Accounting would be required A minimum of 5 years relevant financial experience of which at least 2 years should have been in a Supply Finance environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment; Thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, i.e. SAP; A sound understanding of an FMCG business and thorough understanding of the key cost/ profit drivers that influence it.
  • Knowledge of key elements of the Supply Chain function. ; An understanding of the relationships/interfaces between departments and functions.
  • Possess excellent influencing and communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels of senior management.
  • A commercial approach to all activities which requires constant questioning and challenging of the conventional practices.
  • Pro-active, persuasive and creative as the job holder will be introducing new rules and changing standards of practice.
