About the Role
Northern Engineering Works Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technology Technician to ensure the efficient operation, monitoring, and optimization of Remote Monitoring Systems (RMS) and site technology infrastructure. This role is crucial for maximizing equipment performance, minimizing downtime and operating costs, and supporting safe, reliable, and continuous network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Remote Monitoring System (RMS) operates efficiently to improve site visibility, monitoring, and operational control.
- Maintain 100% visibility of all RMS-connected sites and promptly resolve communication failures.
- Monitor and prevent unauthorized tampering with RMS equipment and components by field teams or other personnel.
- Participate in fuel reconciliation meetings with clients and security partners, providing accurate RMS data and technical support.
- Monitor fuel overconsumption trends, investigate root causes, and submit reports with recommendations to the Technology Manager and Operations Manager.
- Track and report OPEX savings achieved through technology initiatives and recommend additional cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor the performance of solar hybrid systems and implement measures to maximize equipment efficiency and extend asset lifespan.
- Ensure field teams are equipped with the required tools, test equipment, and technical skills to perform preventive and corrective maintenance effectively.
- Promote best maintenance practices to maximize the lifespan of site CAPEX assets and minimize equipment failures.
- Conduct technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure field teams are competent in operating and maintaining installed technologies.
- Monitor, investigate, and follow up on RMS alarms and faults, ensuring Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain a comprehensive history of RMS failures, identify recurring issues, and recommend permanent corrective solutions.
- Develop and implement a monthly technical training plan for field teams.
- Track and follow up on all outstanding site issues that could negatively impact equipment performance, availability, or customer service. nafasi za kazi
- Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements, including reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Promote and enforce SHEQ compliance during all site inspections, maintenance activities, and field operations.
- Prepare and submit accurate technical reports on RMS performance, system health, equipment reliability, and improvement initiatives.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Energy Manager, Technology Manager, Operations Manager, or Head of Operations.
Qualifications, Skills & Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Valid EWURA certification.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.
- Defensive Driving and 4x4 Driving certifications from Top Gear or an equivalent accredited institution will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and complete assigned tasks within established procedures and timelines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Willingness and flexibility to work in any region of Tanzania as required by the business.
