JOB SUMMARY

EngenderHealth works to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes through evidence-based programming, gender-transformative approaches, and strong partnerships with government and stakeholders. Effective communication and knowledge management are critical to amplifying program achievements, generating visibility, and supporting learning across programmes.

To strengthen documentation and digital visibility, EngenderHealth seeks to engage a temporary Knowledge Management (KM) Officer for 8 months to support social media management, storytelling, knowledge product development, and coordination with programme and regional teams.

The Temporary KM Officer will enhance EngenderHealth’s visibility across platforms, support documentation of program achievements, and coordinate knowledge-sharing efforts. The consultant will also support management of the Country Representative’s (CR) social media pages.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Content Development & Documentation
    • Write high-quality success stories, lessons learned, best practices, abstracts, and technical briefs.
    • Document program achievements into user-friendly, engaging KM products.
    • Support newsletters, program snapshots, and other communication products.
    • Maintain organized archives of photos, videos, and storytelling materials.
  • Internal Coordination & Learning
    • Serve as a KM link between the national office and regional/implementation staff.
    • Gather field updates, human-interest stories, and content from regional teams.
    • Support documentation during events, learning sessions, and field activities.
    • Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and programs.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Ensure all content aligns with EngenderHealth branding and communication standards.
    • Edit, proofread, and review materials before publication.
    • Maintain an updated repository of KM products and learning materials.
  • Social Media Management
    • Manage and update EngenderHealth social media pages (Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
    • Support managing and posting content on the Country Representative’s social media pages.
    • Develop social media calendars and plan content aligned with program priorities.
    • Monitor engagement metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • 2–3 years of experience in communication, social media management, KM, or documentation.
  • Strong writing ability with evidence of producing success stories and technical content.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong coordination and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Added advantages: photography skills, basic graphic design (e.g., Canva), and basic video editing.

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS

  • Committed to EngenderHealth’s core organizational values of reflection, inclusion, integrity, respect, and transformation
  • Excellent storytelling and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to use a camera to capture compelling, high-resolution photo and video content for storytelling, following ethical consent, caption, and brand guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Experience developing and scheduling social media content (Loomly preferred), engaging audiences across platforms, and using analytics to optimize performance.
  • High attention to detail and proactive work ethic.
  • Familiarity with SRHR, RMNCAH, and public health programming.

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g., active listening, cultural competence, responsiveness).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are a must.
  • Fluency in Swahili and English language is required.
