Position: Trainee Driver Mech Harvester
Department: FIELDS PRODUCTION
Office Location: Moshi, Kilimanjaro
Reporting To: Agricultural Technology Manager

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:
To operate the machines in a safe, professional and responsible manner. Machines have to be used as per work instruction, training received, and instruction provided by supervisor. Must have the ability to adjust machine parameters using deductive reasoning based on current conditions.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Operate a machine according to schedule and instructions.
- Use and adjust the machine to provide optimal performance and reduce losses to a minimum.
- Inspect machines and equipment as per schedule and adhere to the number of hours for machine preventive maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required.
- Operate the machines as per training and work instruction to ensure effective harvesting and safety for all personnel on site.
- Accurately follow and complete the machine checklist as per instructions.
- Maintain environmental awareness to ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide additional support to other operators as necessary, including working overtime to complete tasks.
- Ensure all work performed is in accordance with safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by his/her Superior.
- Report any abnormality or breakdown in the provided platform.
- Keep the machines clean during harvesting when there is a pause in harvest by constant cleaning and sanitizing.
- Be willing to work 8- or 12-hour shifts as well as day and night shifts.
- Assist with machine maintenance, cleaning, and sanitization.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Form Four Certificate or equivalent qualification, with the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Knowledge of agricultural machinery operation and basic mechanical maintenance will be an added advantage.

- Experience working with equipment where precision and multitasking is a plus.
- Experience in mechanical mechanisms, electronics and hydraulics is a plus.
- Knowledgeable in agricultural techniques is a plus.
- No previous heavy machinery experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of machine operation: safety and efficiency.
- High level of attention to details and hand-eye coordination.
- Good verbal and written communication skills (i.e. English and Swahili).
- Ability to make decisions based on current conditions and adjusting machine parameters to perform optimally is essential.
- Good ability in deductive reasoning.
