Transmission Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

The DTH Headend and Teleport Engineer is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and technical performance of Azam TV's satellite uplink teleport and DTH headend systems. This includes the management of video signal processing, satellite transmission, and infrastructure that ensures continuous, high-quality broadcast services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operate and maintain headend systems including encoders, IRDs, multiplexers, modulators, and automation systems.
2. Manage satellite uplink systems including HPA, L-Band systems, RF chains, and antenna control units.
3. Monitor live signals to ensure uptime and quality across uplink and DTH platforms.
4. Perform troubleshooting and resolution of technical faults in both headend and teleport systems.
5. Coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC) to respond to system alerts and performance issues.
6. Implement and manage Conditional Access Systems (CAS) solutions.
7. Oversee signal routing via ASI/IP/RF and manage satellite transmission links.
8. Maintain documentation of signal paths, equipment configuration, and system incidents.
9. Support integration of new channels, uplink projects, and frequency migrations.
10. Conduct routine preventive maintenance of teleport antennas, HPA, and headend equipment.
11. Participate in shift rotations and provide support during emergency or on-call scenarios.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in satellite teleport or DTH headend engineering.
• Strong understanding of DVB standards (DVB-S/S2), MPEG-2/4, and IP-based video delivery.
• Hands-on experience with RF systems, satellite uplink chain, and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with encoders, multiplexers, modulators, upconverters, HPA, and LNB systems.

OTHER SKILLS OR COMPETENCIES (Optional)

• Knowledge of Conditional Access Systems
• Experience with IP and ASI signal workflows and redundancy configurations.
• Strong documentation and fault-reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and coordination skills.
