Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage and maintain the financial records of our 5-star restaurant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting strategic financial planning to maintain the highest standards of excellence in a luxury hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
Monitor cash flow, income, expenses, and overall financial performance.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Analyze variances between actual and budgeted results and report discrepancies to management.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

Manage supplier invoices, ensure timely payments, and maintain vendor records.
Oversee customer invoicing and monitor outstanding accounts receivable.

Payroll & Tax Compliance

Coordinate payroll processing with HR, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.
Prepare and submit statutory returns including VAT, NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, and other tax obligations on time.

Inventory & Cost Control

Reconcile stock and inventory reports with the kitchen and purchasing teams.
Monitor food and beverage costs and report any irregularities or trends.

Internal Controls & Audits

Maintain compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Assist in both internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Banking & Reconciliations

Reconcile daily sales and banking transactions.
Handle petty cash management and monthly reconciliations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA (Part II or above) or equivalent professional certification required.
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or food & beverage industry.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or restaurant-specific systems).
Strong understanding of tax regulations and payroll processing.
High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and analytical abilities.

Desirable Attributes:

Experience working in a 4- or 5-star hotel or restaurant.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of POS and inventory management systems.

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
Compliance with statutory deadlines
Cost variance control and reporting
Timely reconciliation of accounts and transactions
Budget adherence and forecasting accuracy.
