Ubongo reaches over 27 million kids across Africa through accessible technologies like TV, radio, and mobile phones. Our show’s Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me currently air in 23 countries across Africa in multiple languages.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Preparing, updating and sharing of Ubongo’s audiovisual dubbing packages and quality control of any and all Ubongo audiovisual adapted content. Onboarding and training new technical members of the Adaptation team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Dubbing Packaging:
Coordinate with the Ubongo Team in creating dubbing scripts for all Ubongo content
Organise and update all dubbing and adaptation content on Google Drive and physical hard drives where available
Assist the Adaptation Manager in reviewing existing and future dubbing scripts of Ubongo Kids, Akili and Me and other productions of the organisation
Create backing tracks for music and sound design and effects tracks for dubbing packages of all TV and radio content as needed
Edit sound files for dubbing packages of TV and radio content as needed
Record and mix music, sourced vocal talents, and other audio files for dubbing packages as needed
Work with Ubongo’s dubbing consultants to ensure top quality recordings and audio production across the organisation
Build teamwork and promote Pan-African mindset and Ubongo culture with dubbing countries to make them feel part of the same team and improve working relationships
Adaptation
Organise and update all the dubbing and adaptation content on Google Drive and physical hard drives where available
Compile adapted content into broadcast ready episodes
Record and mix music, sourced vocal talents, and other audio files for dubbing and adaptation packages as needed
Assist in reviewing talent for auditions of voice talents for Ubongo’s adapted content
Liaise with Adaptation Manager, Adaptation Team, Studio Team and Post-Production Team to ensure smooth processes for content delivery
Editing any on-screen visuals during the adaptation process
Compilation of adapted Ubongo shows
Reviewing adapted content received from dubbing partners, when needed
Ubongo Marketing Promos
Work closely with the marketing team to edit visuals for adapted scripts as needed
Create and edit short sound clips
Sound design adapted promos as needed

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
(Minimum knowledge, skills and behaviours to perform the job):
Physical
No special requirements
Ability to travel frequently – Travel at least once per quarter for country visits and/or assist with onboarding
Educational
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in any relevant field; with demonstrated experience in sound engineering
Experience
4 years’ demonstrable experience in sound engineering, audio production, audio mixing and music production
Skills
Creative, organised, flexible in project management
Able to work with minimum supervision
Passionate about Ubongo’s vision of bringing high-quality localised content to our children across Africa
Experience with coordinating sound recording of very-high quality and ensuring outstanding voice-over productions
Excellent attention to details
Communication skills
Always looking forward to learning new skills and helping in areas outside the job description as well as share their knowledge with others
Be willing to wear many hats
Familiar with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe Illustrator. Experience with audio production software (Logic Pro, Adobe Audition, Fruity Loops, etc.)
