Assistant Accountant
Location: Mateves, Arusha, Tanzania
Position Type: Full-time
Reports To: Accounts Manager
The Assistant Accountant will support Shadows of Africa’s finance department with daily accounting tasks, financial reporting, and compliance. This role involves bookkeeping, managing accounts payable/receivable, preparing statutory returns, and maintaining digital financial records using cloud-based tools like Google Sheets and accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare financial records and reports.
Handle bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
Manage accounts payable/receivable.
Submit statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.).
Maintain digital accounting files.
Support budgeting and audits.
Eligibility Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–5 years of accounting experience.
Proficiency in Google Sheets and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
Knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Experience with cloud-based workflows is a plus.
CPA (T) qualification is an advantage.
