Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

MnC Consulting Services has been contracted by our client, a hybrid IT integrator and managed services provider, to support the recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. The successful candidate must demonstrate agility and possess key attributes such as strategic leadership, strong industry experience, a sound understanding of the regulatory landscape, a moderate and data-driven entrepreneurial decision-making approach, and a high level of integrity.

In addition, the company offers Financial Services Solutions including Agency Banking, ATM rental and support services, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Visa sponsorship services, and utilities payment solutions. The company also provides a variety of managed services, including cybersecurity services, digital transformation solutions, data centre monitoring services, and comprehensive information technology solutions. Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the organization, ensuring the successful execution of the company's mission, growth strategy, and long-term sustainability. The role is responsible for driving business performance, operational excellence, and innovation while strengthening the company's position as a leading provider of Business and FinTech solutions, IT products, and managed services in Tanzania and the wider region.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO & MD will oversee the overall management and performance of the company, including strategy development, financial performance, business development, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement. The role will ensure that the organization delivers innovative, high-quality technology solutions while maintaining strong governance, regulatory compliance, and sound risk management practices.

The successful candidate will lead the organization in identifying new market opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and expanding the company's digital solutions portfolio. The CEO & MD will also foster a high-performance culture, promote collaboration across teams, and ensure that the company remains agile and responsive to the rapidly evolving technology and digital transformation landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Corporate Direction

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the organization in line with the company's mission, vision, and long-term objectives.
Lead the development and implementation of the company's strategic plan to drive sustainable growth, innovation, and market expansion.
Identify emerging industry trends, opportunities, and risks within the ICT and FinTech sectors and position the organization competitively within the market.


Business Growth and Market Expansion

Identify new revenue streams and strategic partnerships to strengthen the organization's portfolio of digital solutions and services.
Oversee the development and commercialization of innovative products and services within Business Solutions, FinTech, and Managed Services.
Lead the senior management team to develop initiatives that lead to disruptive IT related products, services and solutions.


Operational Leadership and Performance Management

Oversee the overall operations of the company to ensure efficiency, productivity, and high service delivery standards.
Establish performance management systems to monitor organizational performance against strategic goals and key performance indicators.
Provide administrative and, where applicable, professional guidance to all functional areas, namely: IT, Financial/Payment Systems Ecosystem, Finance and Commercial Innovation and Software Development, Business Developments, Risk and Compliance as well as Human Capital and Resources Management.


Financial Stewardship and Risk Management

Manage annual business plans and budgets, specifically targeting driving annuity-based revenue growth while managing costs and expenses towards sustainable profitability at both operating and net profit levels as approved by the board.
Drive revenue growth and profitability while maintaining cost efficiency and financial sustainability.
Report to the board on a quarterly basis regarding progress on strategic priorities and risks that the company faces and ensure that all relevant regulatory reports are issued correctly and timely.


Organizational Leadership and Culture

Build and lead a high-performing executive management team aligned with the company's strategic vision.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and excellence across the organization.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and leadership capacity within the company.


Required Skills and Experience

Our client is looking for candidates who possess the following skills and experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a high-growth company or 7 years working in a senior position in a fintech or banking/finance institution.
Proven track record of building successful IT managed services, digital financial products/services, and disruptive solutions.
Proven track record of building and managing successful and motivated teams of both IT and finance professionals, preferably in a fintech.
Experience engaging a board of directors, corporate-level stakeholders, as well as multiple regulators in the financial and/or telecommunications sectors.
Strong understanding of the IT industry and specifically the fintech landscape in general, challenges, opportunities, and key competitors across the country and the eastern African region.
Demonstrated emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, and strong business and financial acumen.
Knowledge of Tanzania's financial sector/industry.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and risk management principles.
Integrity, professionalism, and results orientation.


Minimum Education and Professional Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Administration and/or Finance Management.
Professional qualifications in banking and/or payment systems.
Master's degree in any IT-related fields, provided it is backed up with business/finance related degree/industry experience, will be an added advantage.
