Position Summary:
Tembo Nickel is seeking to recruit Community Relations Lead for Community Investments and Human Rights to join Tembo Nickel Project Team. She/he will have full responsibility for the assigned activities and be one of the primary interfaces with the identified local and regional stakeholders as well as key government agencies for delivery of public services. S/he will maintain regular communications with local government officials and other strategic partners at Village, Ward, District, Regional and National level.
S/he will work with the CR team and RAP consultants. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership, design, and operationalization of the Community Strategy, plans and deliver on Tembo Nickel life of mine plan.
This is a Fixed Term contract of 1 Year and the successful candidate will report to the Social Performance Manager
Duty Station: Tembo Nickel Project Site- Ngara
Working Roster: 6 weeks on and 3 weeks Off
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the community investment plans and mitigation activities providing guidance, leadership, and support.
Develop and implement strategic partnerships for community investment activities such as social investment accountability, gender mainstreaming, land use planning.
Identify, initiate, and facilitate base line studies and assessments
Monitor and evaluate the delivery community development activities
Facilitate planning and coordination of Community Engagement and RAP activities and enable synergies.
Document progress, accomplishments and lessons learned.
Develop a social accountability mechanism based on community participation
Develop and review community development reports
Manage budgets effectively and approve expenses for community investments.
Provide mentorship and support to staff around professional development, workload management, and staff wellness
Cultivate an environment of learning and teamwork through regular team meetings and on-going training
Conduct mid-year and annual performance management evaluation
Qualifications and Competencies
Master’s degree in Social, Economic, Environmental, International Development, Rural Planning, Public Administration and Policy or other relevant field or experience
10-15 years of work experience
Solid understanding of Human Rights, Social Performance, and current international development practices
Ability to establish collaborative partnerships with government and civil society stakeholders.
Ability to engage and enable active participation.
Ability to develop plans, budgets, and reports
Experienced in M&E and Learning, ability to coordinate, Lead and mentor
Strong writing skills in English and Swahili
