Overview
Mwanga Community Bank Limited [MCBL] is a fast-growing Bank operating in the Kilimanjaro region with its head office and the main branch at Mwanga town supported by three service centers located at Moshi, Same and Hedaru. Currently, the bank is looking for a qualified and self-motivated candidate [Tanzanian Citizen] to fill the vacant position of Credit Manager.
JOB POSITION: Credit Manager [1 position]
 
Job Purpose: Oversee the Credit Department and branches/Service Centers on credit matters
 
Fixed employment contract [renewable basis- subject to performance]
1. SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
This position is responsible/accountable for the entire credit granting process at MCB, including the consistent application of the credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing quality credit portfolio and ensuring consistent growth in the loan portfolio size.
 
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and maintain a well performing and sound credit portfolio
Ensure that PAR [portfolio at risk]/ Non Performing Loans are maintained at the lowest level portraying low credit risk
Implementing result oriented recovery strategies such that the amount under arrears is kept minimal under all loan products
Ensuring that credit risk mitigation factors are in place by implementing sound Loan Portfolio Management strategies
Approve/ reject loans within the assigned authority of the Credit Manager
Undertake appraisal cum analysis of all loan applications and present the loans for approval before the Credit Committee [Board as well as Management Credit Committee]
Ensure disposal of all Loan Requests within a defined “Turn Around Time [TAT]”
Ensure that delinquency meetings are conducted on specified days to analyze loans in areas for each loan officer
Ensuring that monthly PAR targets for each loan officer are attained and motivation for those excelled is done and remedial measures to be instituted for those who failed
Implementation of management /credit committees and Board directives on Credit Risk Management
Ensure that interviews on new and renewing credit customers are done professionally and appropriate analysis forms are completed
Be responsible for all Credit Products including Loans, Overdraft, Bank Guarantees, Letter of Credit etc.
Making sure that the loans documentation are prepared and maintained in line with the internal and external rules/ regulations
Ensure safekeeping of all papers related to the Collateral Securities pertaining to various credit facilities and safekeeping of Customer’s Loan Files
Monitor the performance and execute regular controls of existing loan exposures
Execute follow-ups and workouts in case of defaults or foreseeable risks
Review, develop, pilot-test and roll out new credit products and services at regular interval
Analyse the Bank’s Loan Portfolio to recognize principle performance trends and to advise management on necessary corrective actions
Review of Credit Manual/ Policy regularly but at least once a year; further to establish guidelines and procedures to enhance the performance of the credit department and ensure that they are observed by every member
Assure in time accurate and complete Credit reports including B.O.T. returns
Ensure that Regulator [BOT] Regulations, Guidelines, and Circulars pertaining to credit management are adhered to at all the time
Any other duties and responsibility that may be assigned by the Managing Director, Credit Committee and the Board.

3. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATION:

Master’s degree in the business related field. Possessing additional qualifications like CPA or any other professional certification/qualification will be an added advantage
Experience of 5 to 7 years in the Banking Industry at the level of Credit Manager or Credit Supervisor
Not less than 35 years of age
Conversant with IFRS Financial Reporting Standards
Vast understanding of credit reporting agencies as operational in Tanzania
Conversant with Regulator [BOT] Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to credit management
Strong computer skills
Current working with Bankers Realm as a core banking system will be an added advantage
Excellent written and verbal communication skills both Swahili and English
Strong problem solving and customer care to maintain a strong relationship with customers
Ability to negotiate effectively
The integrity of the highest order
Ability to teamwork and leading the team
Analytical skills; high attention to detail and focusses on fact-based decision making.
