Credit Risk Officer

Basic Purpose
Ensuring that the bank’s credit portfolio maintains a sound health through ensuring compliance to bank’s credit governance, proper classification of the portfolio and capital allocation.
Prevention of financial loss through timely detection of poor-quality credits and following up on the remediation measures to restore the quality of portfolio.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Undertaking review of the portfolio and ensuring early detection of problem loans.
Assuring appropriate classification of the portfolio and adequacy of the provisions
Ascertain the adequacy of the underwriting controls and collateral management
Undertaking various testing of the portfolio to ensure a sound health of the portfolio including stress testing, vintage analysis
Preparing and communication of management reports for credit risk
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge
Thorough understanding of the bank’s credit governance and processes.
Thorough understanding of the Bank operations.
Knowledge of Bank risks and their mitigation.
Knowledge of BOT prudential guidelines.
Thorough knowledge and clear understanding of Banks’ policies.
Understanding of the key systems and processes.
Computer proficiency especially use of MS Excel.
Skills
Effective listening skills.
Good communication skills.
Problem solving skills
Personal integrity with a high regard to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to be discrete.
Excellent in time management.
Qualifications
Business related degree from a recognized University.
Professional Certification in Auditing, Accounting, Risk management and Information systems audit is an added advantage
Work Experience
1 year working experience in the Banking sector.
