Excavator Operator

Location: Kiranje Rande – Kilwa (Lindi), Tanzania
We are seeking for Excavator Operators to safely and efficiently operate excavators for gypsum mining, loading of tippers, and site earthworks while ensuring equipment care, production targets, and safety standards are met.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate excavators to mine gypsum and load tippers according to production plans and safety rules.
Perform daily pre-start inspections (engine, hydraulics, tracks, pins, bucket, alarms) and report defects immediately.
Carry out basic machine care (cleaning, greasing, refueling coordination) to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
Work closely with truck drivers, supervisors, screen operators, and crusher operators to ensure smooth material flow to the crushing and screening units.
Follow correct digging, benching, and loading techniques to avoid machine damage and ensure stable pit conditions.
Stop work and report any unsafe conditions, machine abnormalities, or ground instability.
Record machine hours, fuel usage, and daily production in the logbook or reporting sheet.
Comply with all site HSE rules, traffic management plans, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications:
Primary or secondary education (Form Four preferred).
Valid heavy equipment operator license.
Minimum 5 years’ operating excavators in mining, quarry, or construction environment.
Experience in loading tippers and working in open pit / quarry conditions is an advantage.
Good machine control and loading accuracy.
Basic mechanical awareness (noise, leaks, overheating).
Ability to work long hours in a remote site environment.
Good communication with truck drivers and supervisors.
