Head of Technology and Operations
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the bank’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals
Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of banking systems, including Core Banking System, Digital lending platforms, and payment systems
Manage IT security, Data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for IT governance
Maintain vendor relationships for banking systems, ensuring service-level agreement (SLA) compliance
Drive automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, with a focus on credit processes, reporting, and customer experience
Oversee Back Office/ Call Centre operations, ensuring timely issue resolution, compliance, and process efficiency
Conduct process mapping and workflow optimization to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Ensure accurate and timely authorization of banking transactions, including SWIFT, TISS, and digital channels
Collaborate with risk and audit teams to enhance fraud detection, AML/KYC compliance, and regulatory reporting
Monitor key operational KPIs and implement improvements as needed.
Ensure procurement processes adhere to bank policies, securing quality products and services at optimal costs
Conduct bid analysis, vendor negotiations, and contract management to ensure cost efficiency and service reliability.
Oversee Vendors/Suppliers selection, evaluation, and SLA compliance jointly with Internal Audit/Risk units.
Manage procurement budgets and optimize purchasing processes to support operational needs
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing teams across IT, Back Office Operations, Customer Support Centre Procurement and Administration
Conduct periodical performance evaluations, career development planning, and succession planning
Requirements and Baseline Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. A Master’s degree/certifications will be an added advantage
Minimum 5 years of experience in banking or financial institutions, with at least 3 years in a senior managerial role overseeing IT and/or operations
Strong knowledge of Core Banking Systems (CBS) and digital banking platforms
Strong knowledge of Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, MS SQL Server
Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems for system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
Experience with IT security, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of banking operations, Back Office processes, and payment systems (SWIFT, TISS, mobile banking)
Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work under tight deadlines
