Job Purpose
To collect and deliver customers' orders in a safe, timely and cost-effective mannerusing company vehicle.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
Transports stock items in a professional manner while complying with vehicle safety requirements
Assures vehicles are clean and in working order
Communicates with warehouse staff to receive relevant data and instructions
Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe materials transportation
To liaise with the Company’s Vehicle Maintenance Workshop to ensure vehicle is in a roadworthy condition prior to commencement of trip
Daily liaise with supervisor to obtain loading plans for collection and delivery of customers’ products
Perform daily vehicle pre-trip checks prior of leaving the depot/warehouse, record findings in appropriate register and submit such checklist to Workshop Manager and Supervisor
Report any defects immediately to Workshop Manager and Supervisor
Immediately report any delays to supervisor and Customer Service Manager
Report accidents and incidents immediately followingguidelines of the incident reporting procedure
Ensure that all paperwork is signed and returned to supervisor after each trip
Responsible to ensure that the loading and off-loading of trailer/s is done correctly and safety
Ensure adherence of all Company Procedures and Policies, e.g., Safety, Quality, Environment, Drug & Alcohol, Smoking, Seat Belt Policies, etc
Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
Perform any other task related issue to your position as driver as instructed by your supervisor
Job Qualification and Experience
Form Four Secondary Certificate
Driving Certificate from NITor VETA
Class C or E Driving License
Minimum 5 years of heavy vehicle driving experience in Public Roads
A clean Police Clearance Report
Age limit: At least 45Yrs
Fire Fighting training will be an added advantage
First Aid Training will be an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills
General Mechanical Knowledge
Excellent communication skills
Report writing skills
Ability to use smart phone/electronic gadget i.e. TMS scanner
Good problem solving and decision-making skills
