Job Overview
HS code, accepted by the majority of nations around the world, are identification codes given to goods for use in international trade. The HS codes are administered by the world customs organization (WCO) and are internationally accepted for the use by customs authorities and companies to identify goods.
Duties and Responsibilities.
You will in charge of all H.S code sections and ensure all files are with correct H.S code.
Doing documentation for local and transit shipments
Ensuring documented shipments are lodged customs (Tancis) and passed in time (within two days) including obtaining release order and dispatch to Port charges.
Reporting passed documents and release order obtained to OPM.
Verifying all shipments instructed for verification per customs regulations.
Ensuring correct H.S. code at all file.
Identifying the correct H.S code as per the East Africa Community Tariff book for imported, exported and transit goods.
It is a condition of this employment that you give a Daily report of your work to your supervisor / Operations manager.
Assigning correct H.S Codes for the commodity
Any other job as may be assigned from time to time by your supervisor.
Qualification and Other Requirements
Diploma/certificate in logistics and clearing and forwarding with knowledge on the new TRA Cargo Risk Management system and Harmonized codes.
Minimum 2 years in a reputable clearing and Forwarding firm
Be able to work under pressure
Excellent in problem solving skills
Must demonstrable the ability to maintain good working relations with all the stake holders in the field
Must be flexible in work habits and schedules
Effective communication skills, both English & Swahili
Knowledge of Computer Programs i.e. excel, word, internet, E-mail.
