The Natural Resources Stewardship Programme (NatuReS) enables private-public-civil society partnerships to sustainably manage the natural resources they need for improved livelihoods and continued economic development. The programme component in Tanzania works towards safeguarding jobs and investments by addressing water security reducing risks to natural resources and currently facilitates and advises on two main types of partnerships: (a) Stewardship Partnership with Tanzania Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) and (b) two catchment partnerships under the Sustainable Water Management (SUWAMA) in the Kilimanjaro region.
Junior Communication Specialist
Responsibilities
The Junior Communication Specialist provides support for
the component manager and other experts for whom the Junior Communication Specialist performs technical tasks
further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change
managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information
carrying out specific research tasks which are required for planning the implementation of projects
carrying out specific tasks in connection with knowledge management for the project ▪ dealing with all questions arising in this area of communication and PR
Tasks Coordination of Communication and PR
The Junior Communication Specialist
puts together an overview of project/programme activities, deadlines etc. and presents this regularly at team meetings
draws up media analyses, participates in fora and public hearings on issues directly connected with the project/programme
develops project content to be posted on the website & social media channels
assists with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities
orders and distributes PR materials on the project/programme in Tanzania
assists with PR work for the GloBe project in HQ
develops success stories for the project/programme in different media formats
supports to compile a media review (documentation and analysis of media reports on the project)
Knowledge management
The Junior Communication Specialist
assists in drawing up reports and translations
assists in communicating, updating and collecting information
organises and updates project documentation, the project library and manages photo and video library
General obligations
The Junior Communication Specialist
is familiar with GIZ planning, implementation and reporting procedures and their changes
is familiar with other programme components and GIZ-assisted measures, concepts and status of implementation and knows the corresponding experts and staff
represents the interest of the GIZ-assisted measure and always acts on its behalf
carries out important tasks for the project/programme, even if these are not explicitly cited in the job description
Other duties/additional tasks
The Junior Communication Specialist
assists other experts, if necessary, as translator
performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
Required qualifications, competences and experience Qualifications
Diploma or comparable qualification
Professional experience
initial experience (internship or similar) in this area
Other knowledge, additional competences
Good writing and presentation skills
Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English
Experience in photo and video editing
Experience in develop infographics
Experience in using social media and in social media marketing
Excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust to dynamic situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through
good working knowledge of ITC technologies
willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
Good knowledge and experience regarding gender mainstreaming
