ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. In Tanzania, the IRC is supporting refugee program in Kigoma Region. The IRC is providing services in Nyarugusu, Nduta and Mtendeli refugee camps in Kigoma region. The IRC support to refugees and asylum seekers including services under the following programs: Community-Based Rehabilitation (care for disabled), Child and Youth Protection and Development, Women Empowerment/Gender-Based Violence, Reproductive Health, Mental Health Psychosocial Support and Education.
Position: Lead DriverLocation: Makere - Kasulu, Kigoma Reports to: Fleet SupervisorNumber of Positions: One (1)
Responsibilities:i Allocate vehicles to programs/operations and prepare driver duty rosters.ii. Truck vehicle and Generator service, prepare documents for inspection, follow up documents for vehicle/Generator service/ Maintenances from UNHCR and follow up the vehicle which is at garage.iii. Responsible for trucking Makere/Nyarugusu vehicle which will need to be refueled a day before coming for refueling to avoid inconveniences on the following day travel.iv. Ensure staff are picked and dropped to their workplace in the camp on time and dropped latter after works.v. Support vehicles movement within Makere, arrangement of vehicle for Kasulu trips/ halfway and Kibondo trips with coordination of Fleet Supervisor and support vehicle allocation per sector in Nyarugusu.vi. Ensure all onboard documents, mechanical tools, and first aid kit are all up to date and have been placed in all vehicles under his/her custody.vii. Responsible of filling all documents for each vehicle on their vehicles fills.viii. Conduct by weekly drivers meeting and plan drivers leave roster.ix. Monitor fuel use on vehicles and generators. Compile and submit weekly/monthly fuel reports to Fleet supervisorx. Supervise drivers to make sure they complete the vehicle logbook before and after each journeyxi. Follow up with drivers on insurance expiration dates and report/remind/Fleet Supervisor one month prior to expirationxii. Ensure all drivers have own valid driving license, and the relevant documents for the assigned vehiclexiii. Return the vehicle keys to the designated official and placexiv. Ensure that unauthorized passengers are not carried in IRC vehicles. All passengers should wear safety belts when the vehicle is in motionxv. Provide proper specifications for generator and vehicle parts. Ensure parts are supplied and fixed to the machinesxvi. Ensure allocated vehicle has valid insurance and road license. Ensure that vehicle logbooks are filled in before and after journeyxvii. Undertake a weekly check, focusing on chassis, nuts & bolts, body panels, windscreen wiper washing fluid, lights [head & brake/reverse], indicators, license plate light, windscreen wipers
Requirements:
i. At least Form IV certificate with Clean Driving License Class C and/or Advanced Driver Course Grade II from a recognized institute, with three years driving experienceii. Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management from recognized college like NIT.iii. Computer literacy very conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Outlook emails.iv. Experience in managing drivers and dispatching vehicles in busy environments.
