Role purpose:
To deliver optimal cost of ownership for local category (or categories), savings targets in line with the savings methodology and agreed value add targets and measures while securing the delivery of projects, goods and services across the local category (or categories).
To manage a team of Supply Chain Specialists ensuring collective and individual accountability who work across regional & local categories.
The role holder will be responsible for the delivery of IT and General Service’s category strategies and input into global category strategy development as required.  They will be expected to support the gathering of requirements as required and support the publication of tender and other related documents.
The role holder will be responsible for the management and development of local supplier relationships in the category.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership


Delivery of local level 2 category strategies, spend and savings targets


Manages local relationships with key category suppliers and where required leads regional & local relationships across categories


Provides input into the annual Supply Chain business planning process and reporting against targets as defined by Supply Chain goals and objectives


Supports the aggregation of demand to leverage Vodafone’s global scale and scope, and Vodacom’s regional scale and scope


Ensures categories are managed in terms of best practice operations and development


Cost modeling related to the category


Actively supports requests for contracts and agreements for projects through the negotiation of major contracts and agreements including global contracts where required


Ambassador role of representing the local market in the One SCM community and vice versa


Uses Supply Chain tools, processes, policies and standards


Responsible for ensuring the budget holders requirements are defined and reflected in the category strategies


Negotiates and concludes contracts with suppliers on local agreements working with Legal and internal stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.


Participates in Vodafone Procurement Company led contract negotiation as required


Manages relationships with and monitoring the performance of local key suppliers


Identifies and supports evaluation of potential future suppliers for local categories


Ensures key supplier performance and relationships are optimized by working with SPM/ SRM programmes where appropriate and required


Joint working with Category and Enablement teams across the One SCM community


Understands internal stakeholders thoroughly, represents Supply Chain and engages in cross-functional activities on a regular basis


Visible with internal stakeholders, senior management of key suppliers and other business influencers.


Uses proven and effective people management skills


Ensures strategy, goals, and objectives, and targets are understood


Monitors the progress of team members against goals and objectives


Cooperates with the Vodacom Group SCM (hub) function, centralised procurement function (VPC), shared service centres (VOCH, VOCI) and Enablement function as required


Supports the Executive Head of Division to ensure success is recognised, takes appropriate measures to ensure the improvement of the team’s performance through coaching and mentoring


Supports the Executive Head of Division to ensure optimal use of team skills and talent.
