Position summary;


To provide medical assessment, evaluation and care to patients in the Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation —Tanzania Center of Excellence (COE) and in outreach facilities. This care includes the diagnosis and assessment of HIV-exposed and HIV-infected children and adults and the development of individualized care and treatment plans including the initiation and follow-up of children on antiretroviral (ARV) therapy
To provide education to medical trainees regarding pediatric and general HIV/AIDS care through didactic training, clinical mentoring and clinical attachments to the COE and in other settings

Duties and Responsibilities

To provide direct patient care to patients in the Baylor-Tanzania Center of Excellence, pediatric wards of the Zonal Referral Hospital, and in supported outreach facilities during outreach mentorship activities (as needed)
Providing education and mentorship to health care professionals and trainees regarding pediatric and general HIV/AIDS care and related topics
Participating in and helping implement medical education activities for the COE (e.g. clinical attachment program, outreach program, etc) as required by the clinical director
Actively participate in educational activities at the COE (e.g. CME) and other meetings in the clinical setting.
Participating in operational research activities at the COE, including scientific writing, proposal writing, protocol renewal/updates, data collection/analysis and dissemination of results, as appropriate and as needed as part of the clinical team
Assist clinical in Charge with clinical program development, implementation, and evaluation
Providing technical assistance in pediatric and general HIV/AIDS prevention, diagnosis, care, treatment and complications both within the COE as well as in outside facilities, with implementing partners and with governmental agencies.
Assist and liaise with CDs on coordinating and scheduling of clinical staff activities to assure adequate coverage of all program activities and to ensure efficient patient flow
Other specific tasks as assigned by clinical director team 

Qualifications / Skills

A holder of a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) degree or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery/Chirurgery (MBCHB) from an accredited institution
Excellence in general pediatric medical care
Familiarity with general HIV care and treatment
Experience with medical education and leadership preferred
Familiarity with word processing, typing ability, and spreadsheet computer programs
