Nordic School Director - TanzaniaCareer Options Africa Group, a leading HR Consultancy firm, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Nordic School Director for their pre-school client in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a reputable institution dedicated to providing early childhood education for children aged one year up to the year before primary school.About the RoleThe Nordic School Director will be responsible for guiding the school's strategic direction, fostering its future development, and leading organizational processes. This role demands a blend of strategic leadership, financial acumen, regulatory compliance, and a deep understanding of pedagogical excellence, particularly in line with Nordic educational values. The Director will work closely with a Head of Education specialized in Nordic pedagogy to maintain and enhance educational standards.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Vision: Develop and implement the school's strategic plan, aligning it with the mission, values, and long-term goals. Translate strategy into clear operational priorities and measurable outcomes.Governance & Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and Trustees. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, safeguarding, and reporting requirements. Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures.Finance & Operations: Hold overall accountability for income and expenditure. Ensure effective financial controls, reporting, and procurement processes. Oversee budget preparation, monitoring, and annual audits.Human Resources (HR): Develop and oversee the staffing strategy and organizational structure. Ensure effective appraisal and performance management frameworks. Oversee disciplinary and grievance processes and manage staff, including the Head of Education and administrative staff.Administration: Participate in Board meetings and ensure the implementation of Board decisions. Ensure efficient administrative systems. Serve as the primary point of contact for external correspondence. Oversee admissions, student registers, and grant applications. Manage IT systems, data management, and digital infrastructure.Security, Safety, and Working Environment: Ensure a safe and secure environment for children and staff. Establish and implement safety routines and staff training. Ensure hygiene and infection control routines are in place.Maintenance & Facilities: Oversee the assessment, planning, and execution of school building maintenance and inventory management.Public Relations: Represent the school in external relations, plan promotional activities, and manage the school's online presence.Partnership with Head of Education: Collaborate closely with the Head of Education to ensure alignment between educational goals and operational capacity, and to deliver high-quality education.Qualifications and ExperienceRequired Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or Elementary Education, or a related field from a recognized university.Experience: A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and 5 years in a school management position.Alternative Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, finance, or a related field from a recognized university AND at least 10 years of experience in an education organization.Registration: Valid registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in Tanzania.Pedagogical Familiarity: Strong familiarity with international frameworks such as Nordic pedagogical approach, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), or Montessori methods.Skills and CompetenciesProficiency in governance, reporting, and school regulatory management.Experience in financial regulatory management, including budgets, fee collection, and tax compliance (TRA, EFD).Familiarity with Tanzanian Labour Laws and experience with work permit administration for expatriate staff.Expertise in operational administration, including WCF, NSSF/PSSSF contributions, OSHA, and Fire Safety standards.Effective classroom management skills using positive reinforcement and inclusive practices.Proficiency in using educational technology (ICT Integration).Native or near-native fluency in English (written and spoken).High cultural intelligence and ability to work with diverse expatriate communities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Adaptability, creativity, patience, and empathy.A strong collaborative spirit.What We OfferA monthly basic salary of up to 6.5 million Tanzania Shillings.How to ApplyInterested candidates are invited to visit www.careeroptionsafricagroup.com and www.hreastafrica.com for more details on this position.Please send your CV only to recruitment.tz@careeroptionsafricagroup.com by 30th June 2026 with the subject line: NORDIC SCHOOL DIRECTOR.Kindly indicate your current, last, or expected salary in your CV.Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview promptly.Candidates who do not hear from us by the application deadline should consider their applications unsuccessful.Company Background: Career Options Africa Group is a renowned HR Consultancy firm specializing in Recruitment, HR outsourcing, and Immigration support across Africa, with a strong presence in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Burundi, Nigeria, South Africa, and South Sudan.
