Ensuring that news broadcast meets the established broadcasting objectives, journalistic ethics, house style and are delivered within set deadlines;
Editing/subbing news scripts, to correct grammatical and factual errors in line with the house style and quality Kiswahili and English
Reviewing the stories to ensure they remain relevant, up to date, meet broadcasting objectives, house style, and journalistic ethics;
Writing story tags and scrolls for each story, managing live productions and associated activities;
Preparing news highlights for the bulletins as well as hourly updates;
Taking control of the production of breaking news by guiding the studio crew led by the News Producer, Presenters, Reporters, Video editors, and Graphics Designers;
Attending news planning meetings to give input on what stories should be covered and taking part in the planning and analysis of big stories;
Deciding on the content, packaging, and duration of stories;
Determining Docket running order in consultation with other Editors and the Managing Editor;
Ensuring smooth, flawless production, an interface with video editors, graphics designers timely and studio technicians; and
Guiding and orienting interns and enlightening the reporters on story angles and elements.
