About the Role
Job Title: People and Performance Officer
Location: Dar es Salaam or Iringa
Salary: 28,999,942 Tshs basic per annum
Preferred Start Date: July 2026
Length of Contract: 1 year - renewable
Reports to: Finance and Operations Lead
Expected Travel: Approximately 5% national and international travel will be required.
The People and Performance Officer will work closely with the Finance and Operations Lead to manage a range of human resource duties, including recruitment, induction, capacity building, compliance, and safeguarding. Strong organizational and IT skills, along with a relevant Human Resource qualification, are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment: Support job description development, coordinate recruitment processes, guide hiring managers, manage pre-employment checks, and coordinate onboarding and induction for new starters.
People Records, HR Systems, Payroll, and Leave: Maintain accurate personnel data, manage the HR online system, update payroll information, track leave, and respond to HR inquiries.
Leaver Process and Employee Relations Administration: Coordinate staff leaver processes, conduct exit interviews, and report feedback to management.
Performance, Learning, and Internal Capacity Building: Support performance management, HR initiatives, staff training on policies, and coordinate training logistics and opportunities.
Safeguarding, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labour laws, update national policies, lead internal audits, respond to donor requests, implement safeguarding policies, and ensure compliance with safety and security policies.
Front Office and Reception Coordination: Manage front office operations, serve as a point of contact, coordinate meeting rooms, oversee mail distribution, manage office supplies, and provide basic administrative support.
Other Duties: As required, including occasional weekend and public holiday work for which time off in lieu will be granted.
About You
Skills and Experience:
Essential: Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience; proven track record in a similar HR role; good general administration experience; experience managing a team and supporting line managers; ability to work in a busy environment with short turnaround tasks; paid-up member of the HR board.
Desirable: Ability to work with limited supervision and make decisions independently; strong IT skills (including databases and Microsoft Office); effective, tactful, and sensitive communication skills; excellent listening skills; good organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
