Safety Officer
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Safety Officer to join our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team at our Ubungo Terminal operations. The role is key to ensuring a safe workplace across the terminal from the warehousing, workshops, and office environments, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies and ensure compliance with national and international regulations.
Oversee daily operational safety in container handling, equipment use (forklifts, reach stackers, cranes), warehousing, and workshops.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training to staff and contractors.
Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses, recommending corrective actions.
Maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, spills, and first aid.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Professional certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) required.
3-5 years’ experience in logistics, port operations, warehousing, or industrial safety.
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian occupational safety laws and international standards (ISO 45001, ILO).
Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety compliance enforcement.
Excellent communication, training, and reporting skills.
