Senior Workshop EngineerRole summaryPlan, organize, and supervise daily workshop operations to ensure timely maintenance and repair of agricultural implements, tractors, trailers, harvesters, earth-moving machinery, and transport vehicles.Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.Manage mechanical repairs, fabrication, welding, and modification of equipment and agricultural implements based on operational requirements.Supervise and lead workshop technicians, mechanics, welders, and fabricators, ensuring adherence to maintenance standards and safety procedures.Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations in all workshop and field maintenance activities.Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and ensure proper utilization of workshop resources.Oversee spare parts store management, including inventory control, timely procurement, and proper record-keeping.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, equipment service history, and spare parts usage.Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to source quality spare parts, tools, lubricants, and workshop materials.Conduct regular inspections of equipment and vehicles to assess condition and schedule repairs or replacements.Supervise field service teams conducting mobile maintenance during agricultural operations such as planting, harvesting, and cane transportation.Train and develop workshop staff and equipment operators on proper handling, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.Lead planning and preparation of equipment for major agricultural operations to ensure readiness and efficiency.Implement systems for monitoring equipment performance, fuel consumption, and operational efficiency.Ensure compliance with company policies, maintenance procedures, and operational standards.Provide technical advice to management on workshop development, equipment upgrades, and technology improvements.Ensure optimal utilization and maintenance of workshop infrastructure, tools, and machinery.Lead workshop audits and inspections to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.Monitor safety practices, manage risks, and report incidents or accidents promptly.Prepare periodic technical and maintenance reports, including equipment status and recommendations.Coordinate logistics for movement of machinery, equipment, and field service teams.Ensure proper waste management and environmental protection within the workshop.Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.Promote innovation, efficiency improvements, and cost-effective solutions in workshop operations.Perform any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Auto Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Must be a registered professional engineer with the Engineers Registration Board.A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Management, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field will be an added advantage.A minimum of six (6) years’ working experience in Mechanical Engineering, Equipment Maintenance, and Workshop Management from reputable institutions.Experience in an agricultural, manufacturing, or sugar processing environment will be an added advantage.Application Method:Interested candidates are invited to apply through the Applicant Portal.
