Purpose of the position:
Water engineer will supervise the construction of water supply systems and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of sanitation and hygiene component in the MOFA project. The staff work closely with the district WASH engineer and provide technical support to project manager and project coordinator in order to make sure that the water systems construction will complete within the time frame.
Major Responsibilities

Ensure each construction of the project to proceed according to the schedule through periodic monitoring and communication with contractor. Consult with Project Manager in case that problems are observed.
Implement trainings (water supply management, sanitation/hygiene) for the local partners (government and community members) with effective method and communication.
Monitor the progress of project activities from beginning to end and timely submit progress reports to Project Manager and relevant partners.
Provide technical advice/input to the project and share potential risks with project team in regard to water supply and sanitation/hygiene.
Maintain good communication within local government and the project team and be able to solve problems through cooperation with other staff.
Develop a smooth relationship with the water management committee holding respect and understanding on different values.
Keep update with environmental matters and be aware of the policies and development in areas of operation.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

Minimum Qualification required: Bachelor of Science in Water Engineering
Experience: 4 yrs/3 yrs in Managerial level
Preferred: Masters of Science in Water Engineering, registered with Tanzania board of Engineers.
Technical Skills & Abilities:

Computer skills.
Demonstrate ability in supervision
Experience in working with water projects
Working knowledge of proposal writing and negotiation skills
Good planning and organizational skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and donors



Working Environment / Conditions:


Work environment: Office-based with travel to the field
