Enterprise Operation Support Engineers-L1 (5 Positions)
Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for Enterprise Operation Support Engineers-L1. The role reports to the NOC Assurance Manager. He/She will be responsible to ensure a 24/7 rota the highest achievable service availability through proactively performing correct network fault detection, advanced first line fault remedial action, intermediate parameter configuration to clear quality of service issues and escalation to correct internal and external groups on timely basis.
The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to:
1. Alarm handling & management to clear service or quality of service affecting alarms
2. L1 Fault management and correction to ensure MTTR SLA compliance:
Fault detection through alarm monitoring
TT life cycle management from creation to closure
Loop tests
Weather map monitoring for link status
Port status check
Link status checks
3. Timely and accurate escalation of faults/degraded service to 2nd Line support and field operations as appropriate
4. Completing shift handover to NOC engineer taking over the next shift, including any observations of degraded network performance
5. Coordinating and assisting field operations engineers during new circuit delivery, preventive & curative maintenance e.g. dispatch to site for fault resolution, alarm testing.
6. Control access to BTS sites with change/ incident management process
7. Accurate TT reporting capturing all basic info as per template such as event start time, event end time, RFO and resolution
8. Communication of network faults (Planned & unplanned) to stakeholders (3rd parties, customer care, enterprise CRM) with expected restoration time (ETR), as well as of event closure through emails and SMS notifications
9. Control access to BTS sites with change/ incident management process
10. Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Academic and Qualifications and Experience;
Bachelor’s degree in IT or diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics engineering or its equivalent with a bias in Telecommunications or data Communications.
Basic understanding of microwave, fibre, IPRAN network segments and nodes for the purposes of fault diagnosis and 1st line remedial action.
Professional qualifications such as CCNA will be an added advantage
In-depth understanding of wireless & fibre telecommunications gained from at least 3 years’ experience in a highly interactive environment, experience in reporting intermediate first line diagnosis and remedial, interpersonal relationship, experience of at least 3 years in an IT or telecommunications environment.
Knows how to practically apply specialised knowledge into problem solving
In-depth understanding of operation and configuration of telecommunications OAMs and NMSs
In-depth understanding of telecommunications standards.
