Overview
Job Purpose: To manage BME Mining Services Operations at the Tanzanian Mines in accordance with all company SHEQ procedures & standards, to meet customer requirements on site and maintain close communication with head office in South Africa
Accountabilities
Safety and Environment and Security
Operate within BME SHE Standards - Performance measures: External audits
Perform job and transport audits to ensure BME safe working practices and environmental standards are being fully employed - Performance measures: Internal Audits
Maintenance of personnel training levels, equipment inspections and inventory records in compliance with company and legal requirements - Performance measures: Record inspections
Compliance with plant operating procedures, including work permits, confined space entry, control of change PPE application, record keeping, security management and employee handbook - Performance measures: Audit Reports
No safety, health, and environmental incidents - Performance measures: SHE Statistics
Deliver the SHES plan for Tanzania including action management and audit plan - Performance measures: SHE Statistics
No product transport incidents - Performance measures: SHE Statistics
No personnel accidents to self or direct reports - Performance measures: SHE Statistics
No preventable security incursions or thefts
Understanding and demonstrated leadership for the BoS for all operations
Commercial Minded
Generation of monthly production volume and Operational KPI reports - Performance measures: Reports records
Implementation of “Participative Management” approach including empowering and active consultation with employees on plant and management system improvements - Performance measures: Management structure in place
Continuous fixed cost reduction - Performance measures: Cost reports
Continuous inventory optimization - Performance measures: Cost reports
Active employee development towards higher-level capability - Performance measures: Inventory Reports
Fixed cost budget generation and compliance - Performance measures: Training records
Sales and operations planning process implementation and delivery - Performance measures: Business Manager feedback
Support business growth at Tanzania Mine - Performance measures: system records
Entrepreneurial Spirit
Continuous improvement of administrative systems to an advantaging customer and BME - Performance measures: Business Manager Feedback
Implementation of new customer-focused product formulations(and types) in conjunction with R&D development team - Performance measures: Product Portfolio evolution
Direct government agency liaison to facilitate ease of customer and BME operations
Support the value in use program, scoping studies and other technically/operation led initiatives - Performance measures: Visit reports
Support and manage business efficiency programs
Working Together
Interface with international SHE and supply chain(logistics and production) teams - Performance measures: Global Feedback
Support of other international operations in the form of information sharing and audit provision - Performance measures: Global Feedback
Work with local communities (in conjunction with clients) to facilitate community knowledge and acceptance of Tanzania operations - Performance measures: Client Feedback
Demonstrated leadership of the Tanzania Operations team - Performance measures: Team Feedback
Operating environment:
Tanzania Mine sites: normal working hours 07H00-17H00 Mon-Sat Extended working hours will be required from time to time as business needs dictate

Education and Experience:
Technical Degree(science, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining Engineering preferred)
Safety training 2 years MMU Operations management experience
5 years experience in explosives production facilities
Experience in open cut mining
Extensive knowledge of BME Product range
