Job Purpose
The Senior Officer – Market, Treasury and Credit Risk will provide management with independent and objective end-to-end oversight of Market, Treasury and Credit Risk in line with the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Operational Risk Frameworks. The role supports effective risk governance, regulatory compliance, and proactive monitoring of financial risks within the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Risk
Lead the preparation of the annual Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) documentation for Group reporting.
Coordinate the annual cyclical stress testing exercise and quarterly regulatory stress testing reporting for the Bank.
Lead the development and maintenance of country-specific Liquidity Risk, Capital Risk and Market Risk frameworks and policies, including supporting Treasury in liquidity standards development.
Coordinate the drafting of Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk framework addendums with Group Key Risk Owners (KROs).
Review and recommend improvements to risk standards and policies to strengthen the risk management framework and support effective resource allocation.
Provide subject matter expertise on capital and liquidity risk and contribute to key Group initiatives.
Represent the Risk function in engagements with regulators, auditors and other internal or external stakeholders when required.
Monitor and report market risk exposures against predefined limits on a daily basis.
Investigate Market Risk Present Value (PV) movements, reconciliation exceptions and back-testing exceptions.
Review and sign off on daily risk metrics and exposure reports.
Monitor exposures against approved limits while building insights on capital requirements to support business trading and hedging decisions.
Participate in new product development, complex trade reviews and significant change initiatives by conducting risk assessments.
Monitor risk-weighted assets across all risk types on a monthly basis.
Review Key Risk Assessments (KRAs) and provide appropriate challenge to ensure completeness and effectiveness.
Provide advice and support to Key Risk Owners (KROs) on governance matters and regulatory requirements.
Support the implementation and monitoring of the Bank’s risk appetite framework and analyze performance against set appetite targets.
Review and monitor approved sector concentration limits.
Conduct periodic checks on assets onboarded during the quarter.
Compliance Risk
Monitor transactions daily and report any suspicious transactions to the Head of Risk and Compliance.
Audit Compliance
Liaise with Heads of Departments to follow up on Audit Agreed Recommendation Plans (ARP) and address related queries.
Administration
Inform and advise management on proposed and pending regulatory changes.
Support the Head of Risk and Compliance in preparing risk-related reports including RCCF, MRC, ALCO and Board papers.
Prepare training materials for risk and compliance training when required.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the banking industry and regulatory frameworks
Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
Critical thinking and sound judgement
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Academic / Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience, preferably within risk management, banking or financial services.
