Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Tanzania is a non-government organization (NGO) dedicated to supporting the provision of high-quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment to HIV – exposed and infected children and adolescents in the Lake and Southern Highlands Zones of Tanzania. Baylor Tanzania also partners with Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) Network, which is headquartered at Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, Texas, USA. Also, Baylor TZ supports the Government of Tanzania through Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children and President’s Office-Regional Administration Local Government to improve the provision of services for children and adolescents infected and living with HIV in the Lake and Southern Highland Zones.
Baylor Tanzania in partnership with Duke University, is implementing the “Sauti Ya Vijana” research program, which aims to address and improve mental health, life skills, psychosocial challenges, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy and improve outcomes for adolescents and young adults living with HIV.
The Program hereby seek a qualified, experienced, competent, and motivated candidate with experience, competence, and motivation to fill in the position of Data Officer.
 
Job Title: Data Officer
 

Position Summary:

The Data Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, coordination, and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework of the Project. He/she will develop a systematic monitoring framework to improve the qualitative and quantitative evidence gathered by the Project. He/she will also provide technical assistance to the implementing Partners, particularly in relation to monitoring, reporting, and governance issues.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

The selected volunteer will be trained to:
  • Coordinate all activities carried out by Data clerks and provide support whenever is needed in their daily duties.
  • Participate in the M&E Network forums, such as Baylor Network and any donor-funded M&E Networks. o Participate in data analysis and report writing such as Monthly, Quarterly, semi-annual, Annual reports, and other reports as required.
  • Share data and report to the internal team and External Stakeholders when required.
  • Assist in interpreting data to identify the success and the area for improvement in the program when needed
 

Knowledge and qualification needed.

  • University Degree in Statistics or related field.
  • Strong data analysis and research skills, including both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Flexibility regarding meeting tight deadlines, with occasional evenings and weekends work required.
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Health data systems
  • Excellent Computer skills, at minimum with Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel., PowerPoint, and Access
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding clients’ health status and sensitive information contained in data sources.
  • At least three years of experience in working in Research from donor-funded organizations.
