Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations located in Arusha | Tarangire | Ngorongoro | Serengeti properties and ensuring our fleet is maintained at a very high standards and that they are road worthy.

The Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all camps and Head office, maintaining high standards of service delivery, and driving guest satisfaction.

Reports to: Head of Operations

 

MANAGEMENT

1. Planning, organizing, and managing the daily operations of the ops team staff to ensure efficiency and provide support to our team in our camps and Lodges in carrying out their day-to-day operations.

2. Monitor and control operational expenses such as vehicle | Camp maintenance cost to ensure they are reasonable and are in alignment with the approved budget

3. Drive on-going cost saving initiatives in all potential areas of the companies and coordinate with Other Departments.

4. Ensure all our seasonal sites contract are renewed in good time prior to expiry of contract.

5. Maintenance of good relationships with stakeholders

6. Point of contact for Out of hours with regards to Operational issues.

7. Identifying CAPEX | OPEX requirements for our camps and Lodges in consultation with Head of Operations and procurement team and ensure that we have enough resources to operate efficiently.

 

MAINTENANCE AND COMPLIANCE

1. Spearhead to ensure all Vehicles and equipment’s are serviced on time and that there is a preventive maintenance schedule.

2. Take responsibility for fuel reordering and ensure acceptable levels of vehicle consumption| km is achieved and any deviations are investigated.

3. Ensure all lodges and camp are fully compliant with all health, safety, standards and that all operational Licenses are up to date (OSHA | TALA | FIRE | WATER BASIN

4. Ensure annual Environmental audits are carried out and that NEMC Fees are paid on time.

5. Follow up with Projects regarding Ongoing projects to ensure timely completion and report to Head of Ops should there be an anticipation of delays that will affect operations.

6. Assist procurement team in Sourcing mechanical parts (gens / vehicles / pumps) when required.

 

GUEST EXPERIENCE

1. Providing input to any complaints logged by guests in a professional and timely manner.

 

HR AND RELATED MATTERS

1. Maintain dynamic job descriptions for all staff, with consultation of Head of Operations.

2. Lead and motivate a diverse operations team Including camps and Lodge managers, Maintenance | head office staff, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring adherence to company policies.

3. Ensure the ops departments are rightsized in terms of staffing

4. Conduct timely performance appraisals of direct reports and highlights areas of improvements

5. Training, coaching, and development Ops staff

6. Liaise with HR department in case of disciplinary matters.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

2. Proven experience in hospitality operations management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

3. Strong understanding of all aspects of lodge operations, including housekeeping, food and beverage service, guest services, and maintenance of both vehicles and Solar Equipment’s.

4. Must be ready and willing to travel to the bush were our camps and lodges are based on need be basis.

5. Ability to build strong relationships with Managers, staff, vendors, and stakeholders

6. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team and resolve conflicts.

7. Knowledge of reservation management System (e.g., Res request is an added advantage)

8. Experience in Managing Fleet of not less than 30 vehicles

9. High skills in computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office

10. The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

11. Stable employment history that displays commitment & dedication

12. Must be fluent in English.
