Position: Project Officer Livestock

INADES-Formation Tanzania (IFTz) invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated Tanzanian professionals for the position of Project Officer Livestock. The successful candidate will support the implementation of livestock-related project activities, with particular emphasis on sustainable livestock husbandry, climate change adaptation and improved livelihoods of rural communities.

A. Position Details

• Job Title: Project Officer Livestock
• Reports to: Chief of Pedagogy Department
• Duty Station: Dodoma Town, with regular field activities in project villages.
• Contract: One and a half year renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Livestock Husbandry or a related field

B. Key Responsibilities

The Project Officer Livestock will:

1. Mobilize and support target communities to adopt effective climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies for improved livelihoods.
2. Plan, implement, monitor and report on livestock-related project activities.
3. Design and implement climate change adaptation interventions that strengthen livestock husbandry practices.
4. Develop education and training materials for farmers, resource farmers/paravets, extension officers and other target groups on sustainable livestock keeping, climate change adaptation and related topics.
5. Facilitate community trainings, learning sessions and capacity-building activities using appropriate and practical educational approaches.
6. Develop strategies for establishing, managing and sustaining community initiatives on sustainable livestock production and husbandry.
7. Document success stories, case studies, lessons learned and community experiences emerging from project implementation for use in IFTz communication and knowledge-sharing platforms.
8. Work closely with the communications function/team to identify, collect and develop relevant content, including stories, photographs, field experiences and other materials that demonstrate project results and impact.
9. Contribute technical livestock content to IFTz's website, social media platforms, newsletters, publications and other communication channels.
10. Ensure that education and communication materials are accurate, practical, accessible and aligned with IFTz's communication standards.
11. Participate in project planning, review and coordination meetings.
12. Strengthen collaboration and linkages with local government authorities and other stakeholders in the livestock sector.
13. Collect and submit monitoring and evaluation information, including project outcomes, impacts and lessons learned.
14. Prepare quality project reports, donor reports and other required documentation within agreed deadlines.
15. Share information, experiences and lessons learned with project staff and relevant stakeholders.

16. Work with other project staff to identify new project ideas and strategic opportunities that can contribute to the sustainability and expansion of interventions.
17. Support the project team with relevant information, tools and resources to improve performance and achieve project objectives.
18. Promote accountability, teamwork, mutual respect and a positive working environment.
19. Contribute to projects development and fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
20. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the management.

C. Required Qualifications and Competencies

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Livestock Husbandry or a related field with at least three years of experience of working with rural communities.
• Knowledge and practical skills in sustainable livestock husbandry and community-based development.
• Ability to design and facilitate practical training for farmers, resource farmers/paravets and extension officers.
• Ability to develop educational and training materials for different target audiences.
• Good writing, documentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate field experiences and project results into compelling success stories and case studies.
• Ability to identify and generate useful content for organizational communication and knowledge-sharing platforms.
• Good monitoring, evaluation and project reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively with rural communities, local government authorities and other stakeholders.
• Good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop project ideas and contribute to fundraising is an added advantage.
• Willingness and ability to undertake regular field travel.

The ideal candidate should be able not only to implement project activities, but also to capture what is being achieved in the field, turn experiences into useful learning materials and compelling success stories, and help communicate IFTz's impact to communities, partners, donors and the wider public.
