About TFFT
TFFT is an international nonprofit working to secure quality education and emotional support for orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania, so they can reach their full potential and thrive in their communities. Our Scholarship Program walks with scholars from enrolment through graduation, our Teacher Training Program strengthens instruction in partner schools, and our Community Learning Centre in Usa River extends that work into the wider community.
The Role
The Psychosocial & Health Coordinator leads the wellbeing side of the Scholarship Program — psychosocial support, case management, safeguarding, family engagement, and health coordination — so that every scholar is safe, healthy, and able to thrive academically, socially, and personally. The role works closely with scholars, caregivers, schools, health providers, government authorities, and community stakeholders throughout the scholarship journey.
What You Will Do
- Scholar wellbeing and psychosocial support: Monitor scholars’ social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing through regular assessments, provide direct psychosocial support within professional limits, and design individualized wellbeing plans, referring to specialist services where needed.
- Case management: Lead scholar case management from intake through confidential documentation, multidisciplinary case reviews, and resolution, including tailored pathway and mentorship planning built around each scholar’s strengths.
- Child protection and safeguarding: Implement TFFT’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy: identify and respond to concerns, coordinate investigations with government authorities where required, and build safeguarding awareness among scholars, staff, caregivers, and partner schools.
- Family and community engagement: Conduct home visits, build strong relationships with caregivers and community stakeholders, and run family meetings and caregiver forums that strengthen the support around each scholar.
- Health and welfare coordination: Coordinate health assessments, referrals, and emergency support, and maintain accurate health records in collaboration with local providers.
- School-based support: Partner with school leaders, teachers, and counsellors to address wellbeing, behavioural, and attendance concerns, and strengthen school capacity on safeguarding and psychosocial support. nafasi za kazi

- Data, monitoring, and reporting: Maintain wellbeing and case management data, track key indicators, prepare regular reports for TFFT Tanzania and TFFT US, and help document scholar impact stories.
- Collaboration: Work across TFFT’s teams, represent TFFT in stakeholder engagements, and support organizational priorities such as continuous improvement, fundraising, and donor reporting as needed.
