The Centre for Counselling, Nutrition, and Health Care (COUNSENUTH) is a Tanzanian national non-profit, non–governmental organization established in 1998 with registration number OONGO/R1/00199. COUNSENUTH seeks a qualified Tanzanian person to fill the vacant internship position below:
Position Title: Communication and Creative Intern
Report to: Director of Programs
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Position Summary:
The Communication cum Creative Intern will support publicity and the development of various print and audio-visual educational materials, ensuring they respond to audience needs and COUNSENUTH objectives. This position supports the Director of Programmes and other staff responsible for the entire end-to-end process of defining requirements, conceptualizing the creative direction, visualizing and creating graphics (including illustrations, logos, layouts, and photos), and coordinating print jobs. The intern, with a communication background, a creative eye, and computer skills including graphic design, will assist with the creation of graphics, illustrations, page layouts, and logos. He/she will be based in Dar es Salaam but will travel to project sites within Tanzania whenever required.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Communication:
- Collaborate with technical staff on communication tasks to ensure technically correct information.
- Maintain a database of media organizations and contacts.
- Carry out social media analytics.
- Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and success stories.
- In collaboration with technical staff, follow up and support in drafting content for mass media, including the organization’s website and social media pages.
- Manage the organization’s social media communications.
- Work with technical staff to create and produce COUNSENUTH newsletters.
- Update and maintain a calendar for relevant events and commemoration of relevant national and global days for social media posts and media engagements.
- Liaise with media and coordinate requests for interviews.
- Participate in the conceptualization and development of various behavior change communication (SBC) messages.
- Design both print and digital materials.
Visibility:
- Support compliance with COUNSENUTH and donor visibility and branding guidelines (logos, acknowledgements, signage).
- Design communication materials such as posters, banners, brochures, and infographics.
- Support the preparation of visibility materials for events, workshops, and community outreach activities.
- Facilitate and take out high-definition photos and videos.
Administration And Coordination Support:
- Support coordination with program teams to capture project milestones and success stories.
- Assist in organizing meetings, campaigns, and public events related to communication and advocacy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Educational Background and Some Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism with excellent IT and computer skills.
- Some experience in any of the key skills needed for the internship acquired during higher education or other internships.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili languages.
- Basic knowledge of social media management and digital communication tools.
- Ability to take quality photos and short videos using a camera or smartphone.
- Basic skills in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) are an advantage.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.

- Ability to meet deadlines and work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to focus and be attentive to details.
