Faith and Community Initiative Officer

The Ariel Glaser Pediatric AIDS Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI) is a non-governmental organisation that plays a pivotal role in complementing the Government of Tanzania’s efforts towards the attainment of its development goals. AGPAHI strives to provide quality and integrated HIV/AIDS health services to children and families. AGPAHI supports the provision of high-quality HIV and other health services and ensures that efforts are well-integrated into existing regional and district health systems.

AGPAHI is looking for a motivated, result-driven, qualified and competent staff to fill the following positions.

Job Title: Faith and Community Initiative Officer

Location: Mwanza 

Reports to: Director of Programs

Purpose of the Post

The Faith and community Initiative Officer has the key role of achieving the goal of the Faith based Initiative with two priorities Engaging communities of faith to reach men and children with testing and services, understand the epidemic, and raise community awareness through: Faith community structures and Existing and additional FBO partners. Strengthening justice for children through; Community leaders (e.g., faith, traditional, school, civic) and Faith & traditional organizations/structures

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • The officer will serve as the first point of contact for the FCI Implementing partner (FBO sub grantee) to execute Faith-Community Initiative supported by AGPAHI
  • Collaborate with the FCI implementing partner to Coordinate faith leaders involvement in FBO priorities, policy advocacy efforts, special events, and capacity building activities
  • Represent AGPAHI in diverse faith communities through public speaking, presentations, and meetings.
  • Raise the profile of CDC/PEPFAR faith-based advocacy and organizing initiatives among interfaith communities in collaboration with the FCI partner
  • Support Faith Based Program on new initiative to strengthen neighborhood-based relationships between social service agencies and faith-based institutions.
  • Work with the interfaith program to develop and maintain updated and accurate contact list of faith based leaders and organizations
  • Ensure the FCI work plan is developed and followed up be getting monthly, quarterly technical reports from FIC partner
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly partners data review meetings between AGPAHI and FCI Implementing partner
  • Responsible for submission of the FCI component of the quarterly CDC report
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and ability

  • Bachelor degree in Social Studies and Community Development Studies
  • Degree in public health or project management is an added advantage
  • Three (3) years of work experience working with diverse faith-based organizations and or communities.
  • Experience and history of working with clergy and faith leaders, both as colleagues and a leader.
  • Strong commitment to PEPFAR FBO mission; deep understanding of the needs of faith-based institutions.
  • Hard-working, able to address challenges; committed, flexible, self – motivated and full of initiative.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and workshops.
  • Managing outcomes and using data to inform continuous improvement and decision making.
