Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Program Specialist - Prevention Advisor at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).

Duties

The job holder serves as a key Prevention Program Advisor to the WRAIR Country Director and senior scientific and a technical advisor to agency officials, Ministry of Health, the TPDF, implementing partners and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and provides comprehensive public health technical, administrative and managerial advice and assistance in the planning and strengthening of agency-supported and PEPFAR-wide interagency prevention and the related community linkage interventions and activities.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Work Experience:

A minimum of eight years of mid-to-senior level public health experience in implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS prevention and community programs or other relevant public health programs that involve coordination with an international agency, host government and or implementing partners is required. (Experience in supporting Malaria programs, Avian Influenza research activities and cross-cutting issues in Nutrition, Gender and Cervical Cancer programming is required. Ability to manage programs that focus on providing holistic and comprehensive community services along the continuum of response, including managing programs for key and priority populations is required. Specific experience in dealing with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defense (TPDF) or working with uniformed forces is required. The job holder is required to have experience in engaging cross-cutting program areas that impact HIV prevention (such as Treatment, Strategic Information, and Care and Support). An additional year of managerial experience with multiple staff is required.
Education Requirements:

Education: 

Doctorate or equivalent (Doctoral level (DrPH. MD or Ph.D.) degree in medicine, nursing, public health, epidemiology, behavioral or social sciences field is required.)
Evaluations:

Language: 

Level IV (fluent) in English and Kiswahili (speaking, reading, and writing) is required.

Qualifications:
